In this class, Ross begins to show some of the complexity of Biblical prophecies about redemptive figures. People of the book have often simplified matters by conflating what the Bible has to say about various redemptive figures into a single coming figure, known by most as THE messiah. Ross shows that texts which are generally accepted as “messianic” do not use the term messiah. So, is it proper, from a biblical standpoint, to refer to them as such? And do all of these point to a single coming figure? Ross works through some of the most well known passages, considered by many to speak of an end times redemptive figure to show the complexity of the subject.
