In this third teaching from the Ten Words Series, Ross lays the foundation for a thorough examination of the words themselves. Ross demonstrates that the words spoken by God, from the midst of the fire, on the day of assembly, later written on stone tablets and deposited in the box, are missing. The tablets and the ark are nowhere to be found.

Our only sources for these precious words are two accounts in the Torah, and these two accounts do not agree! Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 both claim to report the words spoken by God, but the accounts contain: (1) much that is identical, (2) some that is similar, and (3) some that is different altogether. How are we to determine what was actually spoken from the fire and written by the finger of God? Are both accounts accurate? Is one accurate and not the other? Or do both contain alterations from the original?
