In this, the fifth class in his series on the Ten Words, Ross begins to explain the words of Word One, namely, the phrase, “No it will be to you other elohim above My Face.” These words are typically translated as, You shall have no other gods before Me, but what does the Hebrew actually say, and what does it mean? In this class we learn about the structure of covenants in the Ancient Near East and how they are similar to the Hebrew Ten Word Covenant. Ross also explains the differences between monolatry, henotheism, and monotheism. The primary focus of the class is intended to show the meaning of the initial words of the first word.
