This week, Ross shares a message from the weekly Torah Portion Va-Etchannan (Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11). This is the first of seven Sabbaths of Consolation. In this teaching, Ross puts forward the argument that this section of Deuteronomy contains the greatest sermon of Moses. Within this reading are some of the most remarkable materials in all of Biblical literature. It contains the Shema as well as the Ten Words, but also many other important biblical teachings. In the course of the study, Ross covers the five times that Shema and Israel are mentioned together in Deuteronomy, what goes into to achieving the status of a “great nation,” that righteousness comes from the “law,” that following the commandments brings life, blessing and is ultimately good for you, and MUCH more.
In the class, mention was made of the Nash Papyrus. Here is a link to an article on the subject.
