In part five of the Messiah series, Ross takes a look at a sampling of the views of Messiah from the teachings of Judaism. He focuses on some of the dialogue contained in Sanhedrin 98, working through the ancient discussion about various details related to the Messiah. Do we know the name of the messiah? What will be the signs of his coming? Will he come from the living or the dead? Can his coming be hastened by the righteous behavior of the people or is the time predetermined? Will he arrive on a donkey or flying in on the clouds? Are we waiting on a son of David, or David himself? What texts are introduced in Sanhedrin 98 as “messianic?” Are any of them considered messianic by Christians? Do any of them employ the title Messiah to the future eschatological figure? These and many more points are covered in Messiah – Part Five.
